don't download series info
I use Calibre to download books to my Sony PRS-505 and my PRS-300. I really like putting books into series but I have so many that my major collections (mysteries, romances etc.) get lost on the Sony. Can I use the series column and prevent it being made into a collection on the Sony?

preferences->plugins->device interface plugins->sony 505 device interface plugin

click customize and remove series from the fields that are converted to collections
