Hi from Leeds, UK
Hi from Leeds,
Having enjoyed reading books on my Nokia phone for a while, I am looking at buying an ereader for my dyslexic daughter. I'm doing a bit of research to find one with variable line spacing and big fonts, which would ![]() Sarah |

![]() Not sure there is any ereader that will give you the flexibility you are looking for on the device itself - it might be a question of setting up documents with the right font and spacing before you put them on the reader - but if it is possible there are loads of experts on here (of which I'm not one!), who will know about it. |

Welcome Sarah,
I'm new to eReaders, Had my Sony PRS-600 just a week, and have had a problem, which will hopefully be sorted soon, Also I am slowly loosing my Eyesight, I need Very Large Print or I just can't read, Hence the eReader, Now for the few days I have had the PRS-600 I found it Wonderful, and using the XXL Size in Landscape Mode really helps, The point though is not just the Reader, but the eBook format you use, as the sizes and fonts available vary, hope that doesn't make it too confusing, and take it into account when buying. Good Luck, I'm certain an eReader will help your Daughter, Personally I Lve the PRS-600, but if you can afford it the PRS-900 sounds great ! Check all forums here, loads of great advice and info, ![]() |

Hi Sarah, welcome to MR!
![]() I don't have any advice for you about specific devices, but if you don't get a satisfactory answer here in "Introduce Yourself", you might try another post in Which One Should I Buy?. We have some really knowledgeable people around here; I'm pretty sure someone can give you some good recommendations. |

Hya Sarah. Good to have your company. And best of luck in finding the right reader. You might even want to consider a netbook where font, spacing and even colour of text is variable.
I knew a dyslexic proof reader once. That sounds like a contradiction in terms, but he was incredibly accurate. What he used to do was use different colours for different paragraphs, lines and sometimes even a single word. Said it solved all his problems. Anyway, here's a Leeds joke for your daughter. Nobody else here will understand it: A Yorkshire farmer's favourite dog dies, so he takes in to a sculptor in Leeds to see if he can produce a statue of his old pet in gold. "You want it 18 carat?" the sculptor askes. "No," said the farmer. "I want it chewin' a bone you daft bugger." Cheers. Neil |

Hi Neil,
Thanks for your recommendation (and joke!) I have gone the boring way and purchased a Kindle and my daughter has taken to it like a duck to water - she finds it WAY easier to read and I am delighted. My husband is also delighted as, being partially sighted, he loves the massive print size - doesn't even need to use the largest. I've succesfully downloaded several books from Gutenberg - a great success! Sarah |

That's cheery news, Sarah. Glad they're so happy with the wee gizmo. Quite a few of us here would go so far as to say a reading device really can be a life-changer. Keep us up to speed on how your daughter and your husband get along, woncha. You'll probably find yourself a two-Kindle family before long. Good luck. Neil
