Hey everyone. I know I am still a newbie around here, but was just hoping for some good thoughts to send to my husbands co-worker and his family Yesterday while my husband and his co-worker (active Army recruiter) were at work, there was a call that co-workers house had burned down. Thankfully no one was inside and a passerby risked his life to save their family pets when he thought there was just a brush fire but when he realized upon further investigation that a house was burning, he went inside to see if anyone was inside and came across their pets Anyway, this family has had a few bad things come their way recently. His wife was diagnosed with cancer, he has some medical issues he is dealing with (sleep apnea, had PTSD from being in Iraq, got into a bad vehicle accident and some medical conditions affecting his thinking that he is great when on his medication) They have their 17 yr old son living with them and a 9 yr old grand daughter which they are in the middle of a court battle to maintain custody of her. Anyway- they lost everything! The wives wigs and cancer treatment medication, his apnea machine, prescriptions, clothes, furniture, photos- all gone! So, just wanted to say that I was doing well here posting at first when I first joined, but this has distracted me a bit. We are trying to get them taken care of- they don't deserve all of this happening to them. Please think of them, send a prayer, good vibes, whatever your faith allows Oh, and be sure to check your smoke detectors. This fire only took 30-40mins to totally destroy their home- cause is still unknown at this time however |

I know ou are feeling isolated right now, as a former Army recruiter You may be surprised at the amount of help that you have available to you. Right there at you unit you the family members as well the recruiters themselves, reach out to the first sergent and or commanders wife these are strong sources us them to your advantage. God be with you and them in your time of need as he stood when he was needed. Chris |

Hope all works out OK for all involved. And I'd second the advice about the smoke detectors. |
