Two Free "Euro Crime" Books

Thanks to the Euro Crime blog, I've learned about two free e-books.

Snowbooks had a link to a new crime book by UK author Robert Finn, available in mutliple formats (PDF, RTF, etc.):
http://www.snowbooks.com/RobertFinn/

And for a limited time, you can download UK author Stephen Davison's debut thriller Kill&Cure from this link:
http://stephendavisononline.com/
(You do have to share your name, e-mail, and country to get that one. If you want to avoid that, you can read an excerpt here instead.)

"Underlife" by Finn is available via manybooks.net in most formats.

Davison's "free" download requires that you download "Part 1" first and then look for a link via PayPal (donation is voluntary and not required allegedly) to get "Part 2".

I didn't bother jumping through that hoop myself but folks should know what this download entails (beyond merely signing up with your email info).

Kill&Cure is in pdf
It is formatted for a small page - probably to prevent you from printing it out ;-), but this means it is directly readable on a 6" screen.

When you visit the page, they ask for name and email address.
Then they send you an email you have to confirm by clicking on link.
After confirmation you are sent another email with link to the page where the book can be downloaded.
The book is not complete. It ends at 3/4 and then you are supposed to visit site again, consider paying something to the author via PayPal and then you can download the reminder of the book.

I am not sure if I want to go through all that hassle.

This takes you to a page where you can get part 2.
I hope that clears it up. If it doesn't I'll ensure the process is changed so that getting the download is less complicated.
Please let me know how you get on.

Thanks, Stephen. Premise sounds intriguing. Downloaded!

Found the problem.

In Firefox and Opera, the 2nd video hides the little book icon and part of the Copyright notice.

The page displays fine in IE and Safari.

Gotta always test at least a recent version of those four and Chrome, as laborious as that sounds.

I confirm. Kill&Cure works in IE and doesn't work in FF.

Thanks to the posters and the writers.

Stephen, just to let you know that whilst I downloaded Kill & Cure, I had trouble converting it to my ereader format (PDB) so haven't read it yet.

I haven’t converted many PDFs to PDB. Sometimes they work perfectly and other times they don’t. It may even come down to the original source document. I really don’t know.

Has anyone else had problem converting the book to his/her preferred format?
