SmartQ V5 review
![]() SmartQ V5 review It's a nice little device, that can be used as a pocket sized eBook reader. Unlike the SmartQ 5, this one comes with Linux, Windows CE and Android installed, so there are more eBook apps available. I didn't like Android for eBooks though, because you can't scroll/flip pages using the buttons (those are used by Android). If you have any questions, just ask. |

In your review, you mention how the V5 has a much higher build quality than the Q5. How does the build quality of the SmartQ V7 compare to the build quality of the SmartQ V5 - does it appear to be better, worse, or similar?

They're quite different in terms of look and feel. But personally, I think the SmartQ V5 is a bit better built. It just looks a bit more polished and high quality. They paid some more attention to details, like the buttons and flaps to cover the ports. The SmartQ (V)7 is still nice though. A very solid device with a nice weight to it.
Overall, I don't think build quality should be the deciding factor to choose between either of those two MIDs. |

Hi, it looks like they have released an updated Android firmware.
http://en.smartdevices.com.cn/Suppor...001/14-56.html Would you be willing to install it and tell us your thoughts? What version of Android is included in the update? Thanks! |

It's the same firmware I used when reviewing the device (check the date).

Fixed some bugs and runs a bit faster. I still prefer Linux on the SmartQ V5. There are some people that actually like Android on the V5, so it might be just me.

The video here of Android 2.1 on the V5 looks pretty impressive. http://smartqv5.com/
