Economical Reading Light with Stock Cover

The Mighty Bright TravelFlex light works great with the stock soft cover. I had some concerns about how one would attach a light to the soft cover. If you're looking for an alternative to the Sony cover/light combo, this may suit you fine. Amazon has it for $15.99. The light has a very small footprint compared to the Mighty Bright XtraFLex and coils up nicely taking up little space in a bag or case.

Edit: Also, the light does not add any noticeable weight to the 900. This is not so with the XtraFlex, which I also have. Last edited by SCION; 01-26-2010 at 10:12 PM. |

Looks like a great light! I at first tried the Sony cover with light. But it was just to dim, so I returned it (had got it at Target). So here is an alternative that is cheap, and easily returned if it does not meet expectations.

I picked up a "Pathway lights: Multi-pose Brightbook" at Target. I notice it is not available at the Target site, but only at the stores in the book department. It has 4 leds, two light levels and was only $8.99. It clips on the case with ease, but would not be able to clip on the 300 itself. It works perfect. The low setting is all I need, and it is twice as bright as the high setting on the Sony one. I use rechargeable AAA batts in it....had it now about a month and it has excellent battery life, and works great. |

I have the MightyBright Travel Flex as well as their Pocketflex and Flex 2. Of them all, the one I like to use best on my 600 is the TravelFlex. Plus, if you like reading in landscape mode, as I do, the shape of the TravelFlex's battery compartment actually makes holding the book easier. It will, essentially, just lay across your index finger needing almost no grip.

I tried my 505's travel light on my 900, clipped to the folded back soft cover -- http://www.amazon.com/Verilux-Natura.../dp/B000F93508 .

It is a 90% solution and I may live with it. I love the light quality of this cold cathode tube. The issue is, to get the most even coverage I either have to clip to the side (or top if in landscale mode) or else position it just barely angled above causing a bright reflection in my usual portrait mode. I'd say the side-spill makes the light quite even in landscape but I see some intensity fall-off at the bottom in portrait. |

Glad you found something more suitable for you! I'm not having an issue with lack of brightness at the bottom of the screen.
