Won't convert- Value Error??? Help

This is my 1st post, please be patient. I have downloaded a few books with no problem but now have a problem with a book with a doc extension. I have downloaded them before with no problem. Same files from the same source.

I download the book. Put it in a Kindle file I set up for downloaded books.
I open Calibre and get the book. It goes to the page to extract the files.
It lists in my book list like its there.
Now when I hit the convert button I get a box that says
Error Error Unhandled exception. then
Value Error - Couldn't find an ebook inside the archive.

I am able to open the book on the computer and it comes up on Word.

Welcome to our happy group..

Opens in Word

. Could it be a DOC file?
Calibre does not convert DOC files.

You can use Open Office or Word to save the file as RTF, or (stripped) HTML and convert that.

Thanks so much for replying and I did exactly what you said after hours of trying different things. Then I remembered I had another file that I had to convert to PDF to get the type a readable size. It threw me for a loop because I downloaded 5 books all from the same person and file and 3 came out different. Oh well, I'm a happy camper or should I say cruiser. Thanks again.
