PDF to ePub: Page Error on Sony 600

Hi,

I have used Calibre to convert some PDFs into ePubs. It all seems to work fine and I can view the ePubs ok using the viewer in Calibre.

However when I transfer the files to the reader and try to read them, I get a message saying, "Page Error!".

Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so, how do I track it down?

In the conversion settings under epub output make sure the setting to split files larger than is at most 260KB

Thanks a million Kovid. That solved the issue.

That setting actually defaults to 3000 KB. Would it not be better to default it to 260KB?

It does default to 260KB. You've probably changed the default via preferences->conversion options at some time in the past.

Possibly, but I certainly dont remember doing that i dont think I touched any of the settings.

For some complicated files, which you continue to get Page Error should consider lowering files size to below 260 kb; say even 200 kb. That will eliminate all Page Error in Sony Reader

Why add to a thread that is 10 months old??

Sony's ADE renderer requires file size to be below 300k. Calibre defaults to 260k, well below that limit. If you are finding books that require you to set it lower then something, somewhere is wrong. Maybe you can provide an example.
