Greetings from Ipswich (UK)
Hello, I actually live in Kesgrave which is a town a few miles east of Ipswich, and I received a grey "Cool-er" from my wife for Christmas, and so far am finding it excellent.
I'm in my mid 30's and as long as I can remember have always read about a book a week. Until about five years ago that is, when I became disabled, and unable to read books (It's a complicated reason). I discovered book readers about 2 years ago. I knew that I could physically handle them, but the price (of the reader and books) was putting me off. Anyway, I'm now the proud owner of one, and on my 3rd ebook. I'm still getting used to the differences and advantages between formats, but this site is quickly educating me. Two slight gripes with my Cool-er. Firstly you cannot read a book whilst it is charging, and secondly the charge takes just over 5 hours. The manual says 3, and I'm hoping it will settle down to this figure. I've seen many cheap books on sites such as Ebay where you can buy dozens of books for ridiculously cheap prices. Are these legal and is it the done thing to buy them? Anyway that's me. Thanks for reading. Mark |

Hi Mark and welcome to MobileRead. I don't know about the Cool-er but, while the Sony USB plug takes a long time to charge the 505 and you can't read on it while charging, you can get an AC plug charger that charges faster and does allow you to read while charging.

Welcome to mobileread, Mark. Glad you're enjoying your Cooler ebook reader. Re books on eBay, unless they are public domain books such as ones you can find on a site like project Gutenburg for free, I don't see how they can be legal. There are plenty of sites where you can get free public domain books including here on mobileread plus look out for sales at whsmiths and waterstones ebook sections.
Happy ereading |

First of all welcome to the site buddy! ![]() The books you will recieve on the ebay will most likely be (if at all legal) the sloppy google public domain scans. You can make almost as much of a hobby in hunting down the nicely illustrated or constructed books as you can actually reading the book. There is much thrill in the hunt. |

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys. Thanks for the advice too. I bought a few ebooks from WH Smiths just after Christmas when they were 30% off, and bought many more than I should of when they were half price a few days ago.
What an awful site WHS have. Locating books is very cumbersome, and it crashes far too often. I received a patronising "clear my cache" email from their tech support. Setting up Adobe Digital and understanding the download process was more involved than I expected, but simple now. I already found project Gutenburg - but only because the pre-loaded free books on my cool-er referenced it. To be honest I'd much rather pay for the recent release ebooks. I would pay for a physical hardback or paperback, and I do not see why I shouldn't for an ebook. Although I think they should be the same price (or even ever so slightly cheaper) as physical books. Thanks again guys. Mark |

Welcome to MR!
For buying books, try places like Fictionwise or BooksonBoard - both are easier to use than Smiths or Waterstones! (Be aware, there are geographical restrictions on some books though) |
