Best source for NY Times Best Sellers
Hi all, been lurking here for awhile, but first post. I run an eReading blog (new) and just started a weekly set of posts where I compare the price of the NY Times Best Selling Fiction and Non-Fiction books at four of the major eBook stores (Amazon, B&N, Sony and Kobo). I was somewhat surprised by the outcome.
http://bit.ly/6ixoKZ (fiction) http://bit.ly/8eMUPQ (non-fiction) Sorry for the links, but it'd be a heckuva long post otherwise. |

Very enlightening. Thanks for taking the time to do the comparison.

On the non-fiction list, B&N and Amazon are priced exactly the same on every book, but B&N doesn't carry two of the books, so they're "cheaper"? Technically yes, but misleading...
Fiction side holds up. I'm shocked by how much more expensive Sony is on both the fiction and non-fiction. |

well with amazon, you still have to pay for your wireless data usage bill. the comparsion is just for the NY best sellers, doesn't necessarily mean the books everyone really wants to read. i think $10-20 dollars difference is not a big deal. plus you don't have to buy every book from the same store. at the time of purchasing, you can choose whoever offers the lowest price.

Kobo wins for January because you can buy all the best sellers for $7.99 ($9.99 with a 20% off coupon save20 thill the end of January).
By the way, can you edit your redirecting hidden URLs to be the full URLs as hidden URLs are not a good idea. |

For the Kobo coupon - wasn't that for one book only? |

For me Kobo wins all around. Good prices (and the 20% this month makes it even better), good selection and good service..... and just as important, workable DRM. B&N and Amazon have dodgy DRM, and Sony is just too expensive.....

I mean the guide as a research tool, not necessarily as a guide to which device / store to go with. |

I wonder if any of these best sellers are available in Australia as e-books?

Kobobooks: "This content is not available internationally.". This is so annoying!

Yes, very annoying... No wonder people turn to piracy.

You buy from B&N and you don't know if you'll get ePub or eReader. That's pretty bad right there.
