For the statistics: How many mobileread invitees ordered their Iliad?

Hi!

I just heard from iRex that only 20 invitees have ordered so far. I don't think that was a lie, but i'd like to do my own examination, see who ordered, who is still waiting, who requested but never got an invite and so on.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not holding it against anyone if they wanted an invite but didn't order right away or anything, I'd just like to know a bit of background.
hope that's OK.

I sent 78 requests to iRex so far, 5 from Teleread.org users and the rest from mobileread.com. I'm not sure how many invites were received, and how many of the actual invitees then actually ordered.

Can you fill me in?

Again: i'm not doing market research for iRex, I'm not complaining about that low participation, i'm just curious because I would have suspected closer to 95-99% invitees ordering right away...^^

Thanks.

didn't know that they only accepted CC for payment. so like i said in the invitations thread, I'm waiting for my CC. But that will need some time.

So basically, i ordered my first CC cause i couldnt pay for the Iliad in another way.

Ordered mine.
Still on "confirmed" though.
Can't imagine why anyone should want an invite and not order.
Maybe to print the invite and hang it on the wall as a kind of "I am cool because I got an invite through CommanderROR".
yep, that must be it.

got my invite and ordered 1 min, later.
order is still in 'confirmed' state, cc not billed, yet.

2-3 months ago, i really wanted the iliad, then i got hesitant (all the delays, unfinished software etc.). i got myself a nokia 770 instead. great for reading and surfing. i really like it. since i didn't get an invite anyway, i decided to wait until sept/oct and the 'official' release. you know, just to see how everything turned out with the device. still kept checking mr every day, though.

then the opportunity with commanderror and the invites came up and i went for it. if you really want something, you really want something.

I ordered & received an e-mail confirmation. Didn't go back to check on order status or whether Amex bill has posted yet. Webstore claimed purchase was authorized.

I got my "invitation" today, ordered today. I'll cry about the expense later. Where is my iLiad? I want my iLiad NOW!!!

I was seriously thinking about getting the Sony Reader, especially considering the price difference. Right now though it is not available and there is no news that I have seen forthcoming regarding it's release date. The DRM thing is an issue, though they seemed to have loosened up on it recently. I am wondering if they are having the same kind of developmental problems/delays that iRex has been having. The thing is the iLiad has become somewhat available now, has a bigger screen, some more advanced functionality that will hopefully be fully implemented on schedule currently during the last quarter of this year.

Purchase of the iLiad was at a cost - I will put off updating my laptop for as long as possible to justify the additional expense of procuring the iLiad.

I think that we will all have to either suffer or revel in being "early adaptors" with our purchases. We "signed" the disclaimer/agreement to that end. Some people are probably thinking twice about this and quite frankly they are certainly justified.

I am hoping and it would be nice if some "perks" will come our way to salve, consul & reward our dedication to furthering the research & marketing of a fledgling device. Commander, do you know if iRex will be interested or want to solicite from us bug reports or suggestions for improvements or implementation of different functionality? I know in one sense we are not Beta testers, but our input could be valuable asset to furthering marketability.

Thanks Commander for facilitating the "invitation" I probably would not have gotten it otherwise.

I ordered mine right after receiving the invitation. It is at order confirmed and processing.

On a side note, the web page lists the Iliad at 559.48 Euros and $699.00 pre tax and or shipping. Has this price gone down from what we originally expected the direct price to be?

Got my invite last night, but gulped, hiccuped, coughed at list price of $800. Just put in my order today and was only a little happier at the lower price of $699. Oh, the curse of the early adopter! Was gonna wait for the lower-priced Sony Reader, but with DRM issues and the Iliad's being out first (nearly out, anyway -- does anyone actually have one yet?), iRex won out.
Didn't patience used to be a virtue? Ommmmm...
Thanks again, CommanderROR

Found the invite in my mailbox this morning and ordered right away - currently confirmed and processing.

I can't quite figure out though whether I count as an "invited mobileread reader" because the invitation addressed me as a potential European B2B customer and may or may not have been a response to me leaving my email address on their website some weeks back. Once again, it seems extremely (and unnnecessarily) hard to figure out what's going on at Irex and why... Maybe they use the exact same email for all invitations, no matter whence the customer cometh?

Not complaining, though - ya got that? I"M NOT COMPLAINING!

No invite yet for me, but I'm in the U.S. so....

$699 is much more attractive, but still not sure about going for it, even if I do get the invite -- freeing up the capital is the issue for me. $300~$350 would be a hard enough sell for the wife, $700 is, well, harder.
