PDF on PRS-300 cutting words in half
When viewing a native PDF on the Sony Pocket Reader, it looks ok. When clicking the button to zoom (or enlarge text) it has a nasty habit of splitting a word over 2 lines instead of just putting the word on the next line when it gets to the end of the screen.
This is making reading PDFs a nightmare. Anyone know how to stop it from doing this? Thanks in advance |

I had the same problem with a couple of PDFs I opened before on mine. I juts converted them to epub with calibre and made them much more readable. Not perfect, but much better than the original PDF format.

This seems to happen with PDFs that have somehow locked in manual line breaks (even after the reflow process). So what you are seeing is a line longer than the screen wrapping at the screen edge. It is a limitation of mobile Adobe Digital Editions reflow algortihms, so this happens on many devices not just the PRS-300. I agree that at a minimum mobile ADE should wrap on word boundaries in these cases.
The only work around I am aware of is, as spideog says, to convert to ePub off-line. |
