Screen problem
I think I need to recalibrate my screen but I can't access the Settings menu.
I was reading a book and just ran my finger lightly up the side of the screen to clear some dust. This sent the Reader into non-stop scrolling of the book and then the screen would not respond to either finger or stylus. I have tried a hard reset and the only functionality I now have is to be able to access the top two boxes on the home page screen. When I try to access the Settings page via the Options button I only get the orientation option but I can't access this as the screen does not respond to either finger or stylus. My conclusion is that as I can't access most things because the screen has lost it's calibration. Has anyone else suffered this ? In future I will keep my fingers off the screen !! Thanks, Alan. |

If you've done a hard reset, the device should ask you to recalibrate the screen.

Thanks.
Have just tried resetting it with the small bit out the stylus whilst the Reader is still switched on but nothing happens. Also when it is switched off but again nothing happens. With the home page screen showing, if I press the Books box, the Continue Reading box recognises the action. Any thoughts ? Alan. |

Having looked at other threads I can see I did a soft reset not a hard reset which involves depressing the back button and the vol + button. I am now recharging the Reader to make sure it is fully charged and will try the hard reset as you suggest.
Thanks. |

Harry T,
Many thanks for the advice (and to the thread from Bremen Cole) on the details of hard resetting. This all worked. A small warning about the sensitivity of the Reader screens. A tiny particle of something like a biscuit seemed to be under the rim of the edge of the screen. When I pressed lightly, the crumb disintegrated and I do think this might be what was causing the screen to malfunction and not pick up the right signals via either touch or stylus. I guess I need to be careful about what biscuits I eat in future !! Alan. |
