Bad luck with Kindle 1 - should I go with Kindle 2?
I bought 2 kindle 1s 13 months ago, and absolutely loved them. But I left one on the train, and the 2d looks like it died after airport screening in the Bahamas. It appears the screen was damaged.
So what do I do now? I bought a pbook (horrors!) to read on the flight home. I was set to order a kindle 2, and I thought-should I? Or should I take all the knowledge I have accumulated from MR, and the fact that I have all my books on Calibre, and buy something else? I don't mind not being able to get books wirelessly. Or, should I just wait? I have enough pbooks to last me until the cows come home. Surely, there will be a new ereader coming out by then. What would you do? |

Are you curious about a particular reader? You can always do the 30 day thing with K2 and take it to a store that sells whatever other reader you're interested in and do your own comparison.

And who is to say that you should limit yourself to only one devise? Many of our friends here at MR have a good deal more than one! (I, myself, am waiting to get a new 'smart phone')

It was in my Oberon cover, but I think it was banged around. I should have had it in my purse, but it was in my knitting bag, which I admit even I throw around.

PennyPie and KennyC - you gave me the best ideas! I can have my cake and eat it too. I ordered the K2, and then, since the mark of a true MRer is multiple devices, I will get whatever new comes out this year. Oh, and I am getting a Droid on Monday!

Oooh...I'm either getting a Droid or an iPhone...depends on which carrier we decide to go with. The Droid looks pretty good...Let us know how you like it once you get familiar with it. I'm leaning towards it, but a friend has an iPhone & it's pretty sweet, from the little I've played with his.

If the coverage were the same, I would totally go with the iphone - has tons more apps! But I am sure the Droid will do everything it can to catch up. |

Sydney's Mom, I have the Kindle 2 and a Sony PRS-505 and I recommend the PRS-900. I've been to the SonyStyle store 3 times just to play with it. I'm ordering it today from Best Buy (last day of the sale). I don't know if it will work for you since I myself will keep my Kindle 2 so I still will have unlimited access to the Kindle store. The PRS-900 is just joining my other 2 readers (I plan to keep both), so I might be looking at things through rose colored glass since I read a lot of series and love that I can organize them with the Sony. I love the page number structure since I can jump to wherever I want like I'm shuffling a real book. Also, I'm one of these people who love touch screens.

![]() I've been being tempted..... Lilly did it seem to you the screen on the 900 is better or the same as the 600 as far as clarity/contrast? |

It was better then the PRS-600 but not better then the PRS-505. It still had a slight glare in the store. The letters were darker making the words sharper.
