PRS 300 vs 505, Important Question
Hey guys and gals,
I realize this topic has come up hundreds of times, but I'm literally going to be going to the store shortly and I want to know which is better. I picked up the 600, but the slight glare and "cloudiness" from the touchscreen is enough to bother my eyes, so I'm looking to go for the 300 instead, which I realize has a smaller screen. The smaller screen may annoy me, I dont know, but thats why I was contemplating ebay'ing the 505. Besides a larger screen, is there a significant difference between the 505 and the 300 besides button placement, or is there any other alternative by sony with a screen closer to the 300 in quality but 600 in size? Thanks for the help! Last edited by Cactusgod; 01-01-2010 at 12:32 PM. |

I bought a 300 the other day in the sales to complement my 505 (the 300 is more suitable for travel) and I'm very pleased with it. I wouldn't set out to replace the 505 with a 300 though unless my primary need was for a travel device. |

I bought the 300 for the same reason I always buy paperbacks, the size. I played with a 505 for a few days, but ultimately came back to the 300. The text size on the screens of both was the same, just a couple less lines of it on the 300. I never notice when I'm reading. It's much easier to hold with one hand for me, too.
Also, I prefer the larger internal memory and not having to deal with an SD card, just wish it had even more. I have several technical pfd's on it that are 20-30 mgs each. That was my big test for the 505 and they read the same on the 300. |

Before buying the 300 I did a lot of online research the went out and actually tried them out in the stores. The 300 had the clearest text... for my eyes.
I was eagerly awaiting for the Nook to show up in the store. As soon as I picked it up I knew it was not for me, way to heavy. The 300 is perfect for a reader like me, accustomed too holding a paperback for hours on end. |
