very interesting link about copyright in the digital age
Hi,
At Teleread I came upon about this link: http://copyriot.blogspot.com/2006/06...at-reboot.html To my mind it points out many things about the digital age that are obscured most of the times from public discussion which still has not really adapted to the current and soon to come realities. Ultimately the crucial thing that is obscured and this talk makes very clear is that once something plays upon your computer it is just a large line of 0's and 1's and as such it intrinsically existed for however fleeting moment inside it, so in particular with the right skills you should be able to keep it there, while in the physical world until/unless matter replicators are produced that is not the case. So unless we want a 1984 BigBrother world, the issue of copyright and who owns what will be very tricky to deal with. Liviu |
