Mobileread saved my ereading habit, so I joined
First I ever saw this place was about a year ago. I had never liked DRM, but I was just about at the point where I had spent so much on ebooks and was cranking up my yearly budget for them, that I was really concerned about how my investment would survive if eReader.com didn't. I noticed them when they were peanut press, started using them as palmdigitalmedia, and stuck with them. But would they stick with me?
I have a fairly small downloaded music collection, from Real Network, somewhat old, trapped in .rax format. Of course, NOW Real does .mp3s, like everyone else. Their new converter, however, doesn't fix my old purchases. That's probably what got me thinking that maybe I should quit my ereading until epublishers relearned the same frakking lessons music consumers just finished teaching them. Then I discovered ereader2html, thanks to google and you. Just knowing I could move my library to a more amenable format should time pass ereader by revitalized my habit. I love books, and collected a sizable physical library before I discovered commercial ebooks for my palm m500 in 2003. Since then, my library has morphed so that more than half of it is electronic. There were times before that, I would try to carry 2 books at all times, 3 if I could, just because I liked some selection. How can you really be expected to know what you'll be in the mood to read in the afternoon when you first leave in the morning? It was a pain to carry, and the selection was never enough. Now I have hundreds on a micro-SD card. Of course, that's still not enough, but it's closer, and I've hit more of a monetary ceiling than a carrying capacity limit ![]() Anyway, ![]() |

Welcome David: Glad you decided to join us.
If you have a large ebook library, I hope that you've taken advantage of Calibre for keeping them organized, plus you will have the ability to convert them to other formats should you change hardware in the future. Calibre is a Godsend for large ebook collections. cheers |
