Calibre Won't Run

Calibre has stopped working. Trying to run it generates this error:

Python function terminated unexpectedly.
(2, 'No such file or directory') (Error Code: 1)

I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it.
Downloaded the newest version .6.24.
Rebooted, unistalled, rebooted, reinstalled.
Cleaned registry, rebooted, uninstalled, etc blah and so forth.
Tried feeding it bananas.

Nothing works.

I am using WinXP, SP3. Nothing about my system has changed in terms of running programs, so I am throwing myself on the mercy of this forum and hope someone can help.

I'd suggest cleaning out you calibre config files. Should be somewhere in C:\Documents and Settings\your user\

I did that too. Cleaned the registry, as well.

look for a folder named _ipython on your computer and delete it.

I found the folder in Docs and Settings and deleted it. Same problem. I tried a couple of times.

Uninstalled, cleaned registry, rebooted, reinstalled, deleted folder, uninstalled, etc. etc. Same problem.

Hi I'm also having the same problem just purchased a new desktop and loaded the new calibre version and i keep gettin this message:

You database seems to be corrupted. Locate the file metadata.db and delete it. Then start calibre.

Ah you have the infamous missing nul file problem. nul is a special windows file that must be available on all windows installs. If it's not, it indicates a corrupted install.

Erm, where do I get the missing nul file from? nuls R Us? I've installed it around seven times now, so if it's still corrupted, not much I can do about it.
