italica, introduced the new italica Reader at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Sleek, minimalist, lightweight and very easy to use, the new italica Reader uses innovative technology to make eBook reading a completely natural experience for readers. Through the company’s partners, consumers will receive an end-to-end reading solution including access to thousands of digital books in the first phase (Q4 2009) and newspapers/magazines in the second phase (Q3 2010).
italica Reader features a predictive icon-based user interface. Navigating one’s library is easy through ‘Library List View’ where you can quickly find your favorite novel. The best in class E-Ink display allows clearer resolution without the need for a backlight, making reading comfortable and more engrossing. It also reduces eyestrain. A reader will forget that instead of a printed page, one is holding the latest technology in his hands. |

Hi Ekta and welcome to the forum ! thanks very much for telling us about the italica reader, i hadn't heard of it before. from the website it looks like Netronix hardware but with a personalised firmware. I see it has support for both epub and mobipocket (prc) and one of the icons is for a dictionary, i'll be very interested to know more about this !
i am going to move this to the news forum for now, since it is a new model. for people interested, here is the italica website : http://www.italicareader.com/index.php?lang=eng ![]() |

Looks pretty close to a Netronix/Cybook (just my opinion)

How is this so innovative? Others including Pocketbook & Sony have icon based interfaces. The hardware looks like it's from Netronix. I really don't see anything all that unique. What formats do you support with DRM?

It's definitely a Netronix device - probably an EB600 (ie the same hardware as the CyBook, Cool-ER, etc).

It seems some what interesting, but just the same as all the other netronix are to me. I'll really take a shine once OI or something similar is available.

This is interesting in that it appears to have a dictionary. If so, it'll be the first EB600 device to offer one for ePub.

AFAIK the original 301 was EB100 and the Plus model is EB600, but the firmware is 99% identical.

Looks like one of the Netronix Software Incarnation. This device may be an EB600EM, but who known, it could be a 64MB EB001

Hi
Hi everyone, its is a netrionix product. There are only 2 suppliers in the world. However, there is customised user interface designed only for italica which makes it lightest, easiest and fastest.
