Calibre Question

I scanned in one of my preschooler's books today just so I'd have something with me that I can read to him while waiting sometimes.

I scanned it in as a PDF but reading it that way takes "forever" for the page to turn. So I tried to convert it to LRF in Calibre. But it seems that only the first page shows up now. What did I do wrong? Or since it is a "picture book" does it have to be PDF?

That PDF file is a collection of images. Conversion of such files is not supported by calibre. A better tactic is to zip upall the individual files then rename the zip file to .cbz and use calibre to convert that to EPUB which you can then send to your reader
