just got the touch reader today, have a newbee question

I was wondering how do I transfer pdf files and books to the reader from my computer? I have installed the ebook software but I cannot seem to drag and drop them in the reader.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That's strange. You should be able to drag and drop them in the reader. First, make sure you drag and drop them in your library, and then from the library to the reader. If that still gives you problems, maybe you should install Calibre, another program to manage your library.

Don't you have to drag them to the "Library" link on the left panel?

Perhaps you're trying to drag your books onto the right-hand pane of the eBook Library - the one which shows the contents? You need to drag them onto the "Reader" symbol (or the SD card, etc) in the LEFT-hand pane.

When you use eBook Library you have to drag and drop ebooks from right hand pane to the left hand pane to Library. When the process is finished, drag and drop them from Library to Sony Reader (at least that is how it works for 505 & 500)

Why use the Library at all? You can add content directly to the Reader or the memory card; just drag and drop from a Windows Explorer window. AFAIK, the only situation in which you need to use the Library is for books purchased from the Sony eBook store.

Because I don't want my reader to do all the paginating/calculation or whatever term is appropriate. I believe my PC is a lot more powerful than the reader. Why tax reader's battery when my PC can do the job? When I use ebook for the first time and change font size I don't want my reader to do the necessary calculation. I leave the job ro my PC.
I use eBook Library only. Almost 3 years

Actually, you can skip the step of dragging and dropping to the library if you want to. When I'm using the Sony software, I just drag the books from my harddrive directly to my 505 (all within the Sony software) and the books are added to my 505. LRF's are still pre-paginated for the reader this way.

The only books shown as being in "my library" are the ones I've downloaded from the Sony bookstore.

Didn't know you can do it.
Thanks

(I clear library immediately after I transfer the files, so it is clean )

No, you misunderstand me. I mean, drag and drop from Windows Explorer onto the "Reader" or "Reader Memory Card" icon in the eBook Library software. You do NOT have to first add them to the library, and then move from the library to the Reader.

The EBL software still does the pagination this way.

I see. When you said: Library, I assumed you meant the whole s/w package. My bad
