Trying to download ebook from Sony Bookstore
Hi
I'm new here but have been lurking for quite a while now. After reading through reviews of different readers, I decided upon the Sony 505 which I have just acquired and love.

I wanted to download a free book from the Sony Bookstore and have registered as they requested. However, when I click on the e store in the e library software, I get a choice of 4 stores ie. Waterstones, Borders etc. What I don't understand is how can I download a book I've seen in the Sony Bookstore?

I'm very new to this and I'm not quite sure how it works.

Sue, You need to click on your Sony eBook Library software, log in and do your acquisition and download from there.

Are you in the UK? Sony's store is only for the US (Canada?) so you guys don't generally get access to the freebies unless you fool the system. Not sure how you go about doing that, but hopefully someone will be along that can help.

I haven't heard of any UK publishers offering freebies (yet).

I'm in Australia and I've downloaded many free books from the Sony site. I think it's only when you have to pay that they look to see if you're from a lesser land.

I think there's different software for UK users though and you have to 'fool' it into thinking you're from the US/Canada or get a hold of the US software or something.

Well folks, Juliette PM'd me and helped me sort things out. So now all is working as it should. Thank you to all who posted. I'm reading so much more since I got the Sony 505 - just love it.

For version 2, it was a completely different software; for the version 3, it's more a question of a preference- but Prudence can tell you more

Well, if it's ok for me to say. I downloaded their software and when it asked for the country I was in, I automatically put in UK. Afterwards while in ebook library, the stores that came up were Waterstones, Smiths and Borders. I uninstalled the ebook library software and installed it again and put my country as USA and thus the store I was offered was the Sony ebook store.

Hope I explained it ok.
