Funny, just yesterday I talked to Sony's support about the Daily edition and we both referred to it as the PRS-2121. PRS-900 does make more sense.

			Interesting landscape format picture:

![]() Edit: Interesting but I doubt I'd use it over portrait mode. It wouldn't display more text anyway. It could be nice if you don't like very long lines of text. Last edited by Shiren; 09-17-2009 at 12:14 PM. |

So - can its landscape mode really display 2 pages simultaneously, or was the original scanned to fit 2 pages onto 1 scanned page?

Edit: Goes to site & answers own question: "In landscape mode the Reader Daily Edition allows for comfortable 2-page layout of content" "making the experience very similar to that of a printed paperback book. " Last edited by poohbear_nc; 09-17-2009 at 12:09 PM. |

"The Reader Daily Edition is expected to be available this December for the holiday season at SonyStyle.com and Sony Style stores" Sounds like they're hedging a bit on the release date. |

			7" diagonal?

Don't get me wrong, that is actually my dream size - bigger then 6", but still portable enough to carry around. But 7" diagonal with new form factor - tall and narrow - doesn't make sense to me. Only advantage wider landscape, but still not wide enough to display letter pdf half page. |

Despite eBooks "having no pages", the display sizes would do best to try to match at least the height/width ratios of normal books, if not downright their size. - Ahi |

One ebook I bought recently (I think it was "The Sword of Shannara") has the exact same layout on my PRS-505 than on the paperback version. The number of words per line is identical (it even has big margins). You just have more pages on the ebook version because the pages are shorter. With correct use of font sizes and small margins, many public domain books have even more words per line than their paperback version. It makes sense to have a new device that is longer instead of wider unless you want to emulate larger books like hardcover copies instead of paperback. 7 inch "diagonal" is a disappointment. If it is the same width dimensions as the 505, 600, 700 then that makes the length of the 900 at almost exactly 6 inches. An improvement, but not enough to be breathtaking.
