the glare, the pdf handling, the foreign language handling, the crashing, the freezing. That's just from less than 48 hours of ownership...

No major gripes, besides not having fonts with non-latin chars built in. Pretty much meets my reading needs otherwise.

Device: Kindle3 (great!!) +DX, Sony PRS-505,-700,-600 (dislike!), iPad
- Dislike the massive glare/reflexions/bad screen-quality.

- Dislike that it doesn't provide internal light. I didn't like the light (quality and draining the battery) of the PRS-700, but with the help of this light switched on it was possible to deal with the glare/reflexion-problems. The PRS-600 doesn't offer this possibility.

- Dislike the delay in the handwriting-function, which lets me write "blind" and makes the result not really readable. - And dislike how unprecise it works (often missing letters or parts of letters)

- Dislike the slow and unprecise annotation-function (the on-screen-keyboard)

- Dislike that the "back"-button (PRS-700) has been removed

- Dislike the fact that only a few words of a highlighted text can be copied back to the PC (even if the book is not protected by DRM).

- Dislike that the dictionary doesn't provide other languages than English

- Dislike that you see each finger-print as well on the (black) frame as on the Touchscreen - much worse than it was with the PRS-700

- Dislike that it odesn't come with a cover (the neopren-sleeve seems to be very cheap and not protective)

I was really looking forward to getting the device, was sure it would be much better than the PRS-700 and was very much willingly to love it, but I'm absolutely disappointed and I'm going to re-sell it and keep the PRS-700 (which is much more useable for me than the PRS-600 after all) for books I have to make annotations in and mainly the PRS-505 for reading "for fun".

Greetings,
Momo

Dislikes:
- screen reflection in low light conditions
- user interface inefficiencies:
e.g. not being able to make a note on a highlight without exiting from annotation mode
e.g. not being able to modify metadata in the library or the device - this is a problem for me when I am using the device to review work related rtfs and pdfs that may either have been stripped of metadata for security purposes or may not ever have had any...then you get a "blank" file name on the device. Calibre will fix this but because I need to be able to export notes and view them on the computer I can't give up the Library for these work related documents yet. Apparently I am now skating the thin edge of disaster by using the Library for work docs and Calibre for everything else...
- lack of font choices
- default to "s" font size

BUT - I had a Cybook before and while I much preferred the screen quality and font type and size choices, I am overall very happy to have the annotation features of the PRS600 and don't think I would go back after a little more than a week of usage.

Like:
- taking it with me to meetings and using the "Drawing" feature to take handwritten notes which I then screen clip to OneNote
- reading and marking up very very large documents without having to print up all of those pages
- organizing my books by tags in Calibre and having that mean something on the device
- search features

It's not perfect by any means but I am of the opinion that personally for my functions the good outweighs the bad. If I weren't using it for work related purposes, however, I probably would opt for a PRS300.

Pro:
- I can write notes
- I can swipe
Cons:
- Bookmarks are a hassle
- No clock in the status bar

The last one is actually about the encrypted firmware, something I can't understand, is homebrew really that bad?

Ciao

I really like mine and missed the back button until I noticed that it appears at top right hand corner of the screen as a display. I use it quite often. I like the hand writing feature. It is a lot easier to use than on my old ebookwise. The only thing I don't like is that you have to erase a whole word, not just part of it. Also, I would like to access the dictionary directly.
