OP: I wonder how many millions of transistors this circuit has. I was explaining to my IB students the other day about an entire room/floor dedicated to a computer that used thousands of vacuum tubes to get it working, back in the '40s/'50s, and trying to get them to imagine their MP3 player that size.

I find electronics always to be very exciting to me. I remember building my first shortwave radio (a Heathkit), and loving every moment. That experience was better than my first marriage - and I'm not joking.

If its the same as in the 505, does anyone know what other component it would be that makes the 300 slower than the 505 as it seems be judging from any review that mentions it.

I wouldn't count on reviewer's impression unless he tested it several times in the same conditions.

Also, what does it have for memory. If that is slower, it'll slow the entire system down.

Plus software can have a big impact.

Interesting how everything is marked china or korea now, no more made in japan stamped over the chips in these things...
