Teething problems

I just received my unit in the post and Ive been very impressed with it so far. However Im having a few teething problems and was hoping to get some input on them. The device is running the latest firmware (1.6). I'm using an 8gb Transcend SHDC and Ive noticed that the device has a tendencey to "lock up", the led goes off and the device becomes unresponsive, requiring a reset to get going. I thought at first it was the size of the pdf's I was trying to open but it seems to be pretty random i.e. this 40mb pdf opens fine but this 10mb one doesnt. The same things happens with some mobi files (converted via calibre). Could this be caused by the card and if so should I format it in a certain way or switch back to the default one? What format would people recommend for ebooks? I assumed mobi but perhaps that was incorrect?

Apart from that Im really enjoying the unit though

As I remember, SHDC cards are not supported by the DR. Some work, some not. Try the pdfs with the original SD-card. If the problem remains, reprint the pdfs with the pdf printer delivered by Irex within the device. If the problem remains, open a ticket within Irex.

As per the list it appears transcend cards should work, the problems continue with the original sd cards. I'll give the pdf printing thing a go. Thanks for the suggestions.

I use a 4GB Sandisk card; it works just fine.

Hi,

I use the same memory card (brand, model and capacity) without problems.

I have, at least, one thousand docs stored on it, all PDFs files and two dictionaries, some of them very complex (more than 50 MB with layers and so on).

Maybe I was lucky with this memory card.

Regards,
jjgonche.
