Simple question about azw
In Calibre I've been converting books over and have used the profiles for page setup. I notice that the files that used to be .mobi are now .azw on my Kindle.
Is there any special formating or was it a simple rename from .mobi to .azw |

The files are stored on my pc by Calibre as AZW (I also use a USB connection for transfers). I assume this is because I'm using the Kindle destination profile when converting one file format to another. I was mearly curious if I gain or loose formating because its AZW instead of MOBI or if it is just a different file extension for the same exact file.
