Wikipedia => Kindle
A useful service I just stumbled upon:
http://www.edukindle.com/downloads/kindlepedia/ You enter the URL of any (English) Wikipedia page. You get back a file in mobi format containing the article in question, which you can then transfer to your Kindle. Based on the couple of articles I've obtained so far, the formatting is immaculate. Of course, those of you who are in Whispernet range can already access Wikipedia in your web browser. But for the rest of us, this could be a useful innovation. |

Great find! Would you mind adding it to the Links Every Kindle Owner Should Have sticky?
This is actually a link any ebook reader can use, because they can convert to non-DRM mobi to their appropriate format. ![]() |

You don't even need to launch the browser. If you use the search term @wiki, it will search it for you. It's formatted rather nicely for the Kindle screen, too. It's nice that folks without Whispernet have a good option, though.

I've used this service to read the same articles in Mobipocket Reader on my laptop when not connected to the Internet, for example. Of course, it's not a substitute for quick look-ups or random browsing on Wikipedia. It's most useful when there's a particular article you want to read at your leisure, and the article's long enough to make the effort worthwhile. |

Uhhh, what? No it wasn't. K2 has all the @ shortcuts, even more than K1 has.
You're probably missing the fact you have to hit return first to bring up the search box, since the first character is @ and hitting the sym key from the main menu won't bring up the search box. Also, with K2 you can just type in the word and move the five-way controller to the right to select Wikipedia as where you want to search for the word. |

I already said that about the @ key. I just tried @wiki and @wiki <foo> on both my K2 and KDX, and it works fine. You're doing something wrong.
