Hello from Kindle User & Author

Hello,

Just a quick note to introduce myself. I bought a Kindle the first month it came out (and am still using the first model), and before that was a big eBook reader on the Palm.

I'm a mystery/thriller writer and you can find my website here:

Thanks,

Mark

Hello Mark! Always good to see authors here at Mobileread!

I noticed that a couple of your books are available at Amazon for the Kindle, but I can't find them at other ebook vendors (fictionwise.com, booksonboard.com or diesel books)

Are they available as ebooks for non kindle users? They sound like the kind of book I like to read (noir detective).

Thanks for asking about my books and other formats.

I only have the ebook rights for a few of my books, so I don't get to call the shots on the availability of the majority of them--my publisher does.

For the few I do have the rights to, I haven't found major distribution sites that allow authors to, in effect, "self publish" in other formats. For example, if you go to the author page for Fictionwise:

http://www.fictionwise.com/authorinfo.htm

You'll see that you need at least 10 works that you have the rights to before you can work with them.

Are you aware of well-regarded ebook distributors for other formats who will work directly with authors?

Hi Mark and welcome to MobileRead. We're all eBook fanatics here so you need to get your books digital so we can read them.

You could do what a lot of authors do which is offer up a free book from early in your series with the idea that it gets people interested in your work. Other authors have done this and, damn it, it works.
