New DR1000S owner

I've just collected a DR1000S from the UK dealer. Looking forward to enjoying "big screen" bookreading experiences .

First impressions are very favourable. The user interface is an enormous improvement over the iLiad, and the Mobi reader (my main use for it) is improved beyond all recognition. The large screen means that I can easily display a page of a book which shows basically the same amount of text as the printed book does.

I'm still going to use my Gen3 for taking to work with me, etc, but the DR will definitely be my "home reader" from now on.

Wonderful! If your DR isn't already at firmware 1.6, its well worth updating.

The first 2 icons I added to my toolbar were increase and decrease font for Mobipocket and I use them both a lot (just drag and drop them onto the toolbar, bottom left).

The free NewspaperDirect subscription is very worthwhile (PDF instructions in the PressReader folder on the DR).

I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from your new reader!

It is at 1.6 already - the dealer said that he updates all his DR's to 1.6 as soon as he receives them. Yes, I've already been playing with toolbar customisation, and added useful-looking functions to the toolbar!

Glad you like it. It does make reading a pleasure, though I'll still use my Cybook for novels.

Oh yes, it's certainly not a replacement for my CyBook, but a companion to it.
