E-mailing to Kindle from Calibre

First, let me say a huge THANKS Kovid for a really great product. I just started using Calibre and I really like it. I haven't quite figured out all the ins and outs but over time and through this forum I am sure I will get the hang of it. Right now, I am struggling with the email functionality that allows Calibre to send book directly to Kindle. This is what I got back as an error message, any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Failed to send mail: SMTPServerDisconnected('Connection unexpectedly closed',)

That error occurs because Amazon is blocking mail from your computer. i would recommend setting up a free gmail account and clicking the use gmail button in calibre to send your mail (you will also have to enable your gmail email in your kindle settings).

Thanks - IT WORKED! I opened a gmail account, added that email account into my Kindle profile and presto - sent from Calibre. Thanks Kovid and others! This is GREAT!

only the best email these is. In my opinion, some people are "used" to their msn or yahoos who wont switch.

I agree. I love the simplicity and other features of gmail along with gtalk and other functionalities.
