Kindle DX no longer on Amazon Homepage

I just noticed that the Kindle DX is no longer on Amazon's Homepage. They're only showing the Kindle 2. I'm not sure what this means -- probably nothing.

However, if Amazon is going to start shipping the DX in let's say the next couple of weeks then I'd imagine they'd leave both devices on the homepage. Granted, I'm just speculating, but could this mean ship dates will be late summer rather than early summer?

It may not mean anything, but I suspect that you're correct that it means they're not planning to ship any time too soon.

It is still listed on its own page, for whatever that's worth.

Perhaps they have more pre-orders than they anticipated and don't want a repeat of Kindle 1 where orders outstripped their capacity. It's got to take a while to ramp up the larger e-ink screens.

I didn't look at the Amazon Home page, but DX is still on the Kindle Store page.

The front page ad alternates between several different Kindle pics - some show the DX, others only the K2.

Keep refreshing; it's a series of different ads on the homepage, some DX, some K2, some both.

either it's too popular or not popular enough. my thinking is that it is not popular enough. they are motivated to get this into as many hands as possible, the DX. even if there is a massive shortgage....this can lead to free advertising, the perception of high status, etc.

Just to add fuel to the fire, someone on the Amazon forums reported that a customer service rep told them unofficially the release date was July 6th. Gary, a well-known Amazon forum liar and troll, is reporting June 22nd (the first day of summer).
