Late Intruduction from Philly's New Ebook-er

Hello fellow readers,

I just got my Red PRS-505 few weeks ago, totally fell in love with it.

Never have read any ebook before, then by lurking in this forum for couple weeks, finally decided to get PRS-505 as my first ebook device.

Should been introducing myself earlier, but was so busy with downloading ebooks, customizing my 505 with Caecilia using Valloric's guide, hacking 505 with PRSCustomizer, learning how to convert with Calibre, buying case and decal skin, etc, LOL

Also, I would like to thank you for everyone here, that have been very helpful in providing tips, guides, hints, suggestion, ebooks upload, etc.

PS: If anyone in Philly wants to see and check PRS-505 before buying one, I'll be glad to show it to you so you can check it out yourself.

Welcome fellow PAer I have a blue 505 and love it, although I'd be sorely tempted to get a red one if I had to do it all over again. Glad to see you are making good use of MR's great resources

Welcome Vanquiz, I'm from SE PA myself...

I'm sure you'll enjoy it here on MobileRead, not to mention all the wonderful tools and tips you'll find (and have already found )... MR was the site that sold me on my 505... And I have never regretted that purchase...

Hi Vanquiz! Looking into the 505 myself (or maybe 700). What's been the easiest and hardest thing about it?

I've read some comparison between 505 and 700, said that 505 have better contrast, easier to read, etc, due to 700's touch screen. Then I went to Border's to check out both of device myself, and actually I found the review is correct, the text looks so much better on 505, yet I think I can live without the build in light, so I bought 505 via Ebay, with 14% cashback at that time from Live.com, which brought the price under $230 shipped.

So far, I loads my ebook with just using Calibre, what a wonderful tool, havent even bother to use Sony software, since all my book I found from MR ebook collection, and fictionwise.

Hacking 505 is really easy if you follow the great guide that available here, I use PRSCustomiser to have the joystick cursor for turning page, and use the volume button to shutdown the device. Changing the default font using Valloric's is really easy to, the guide is so perfectly made, step by step is described in detail.

The harderst part, for me, is to put down the 505, LOL. So far, the most difficult task were removing DRM from ebook I bought from fictionwise, lots of trial and error, finally now Im able to strip the DRM from secure mobi/ereader, all thanks to the guide/tips found here on MR.

I checked mine out at Borders too. Call them first and make sure their floor models are working though.
