You have to have the US version of the Sony ebook library installed and authorised on a pc with no other version installed.
Your 505 also needs to be authorised to the Sony store as well (via the ebook library). download is via the ebook library, not browser.
Works for me.

You just can't buy non free books outside the US

Now available for Canadians too! I have found that there is usually a short delay before the free books are available in Canada, but they usually get there eventually.

I would love to grab this book but the stupid Sony ebook software will not let me log in. I have been trying for over an hour now and keep getting that ignorant 'make sure your computer is on the internet' message. This happens EVERY time I try and get to the ebook store. Some times I have to boot and reboot my computer 5 or 6 times until something just happens and wallah, it works. Does no good to go to another pc as my wife's does the same thing. I am seriously considering selling my prs over this software alone!

Can someone just email it to me? Is that possible? I may never get this software to work and may have to go that route from now on when I want a book. Ofcourse, this means I will never be able to BUY a book from them.

I think we are now getting all freebies offered to US customers.

Sadly, there are still quite a few books marked with "US only". The biggest disappointment was that two available novels by Guy Gavriel Kay fall into the same category.

Like lilac I am hopelessly(it seems) overloaded with freebies and bought ebooks and considering it is nearly 2000 pages at medium font size it will take quite a while to read but if you don't get it now it will go back to $16 like his other ebooks. Quite a good incentive

and this is what makes my situation dire. My inability to be able to login to the ebook store means I keep missing these freebies. I have contacted their customer service and gotten nowhere. Has anyone been able to figure out what causes this? Assuming anyone else has the issue that is.

Don't bother emailing them, I would call them. Do you have antivirus software?

I'm not in the US or Canada but I've managed to nab the book. Magic! Or maybe that when I first signed to the Sony site it only gave the options of being in the US or Canada, while I'm in the UK, so I absently ticked US!
