Hello from the West Coast of Canada

Hello,
I am a new member from the Victoria BC area.
I am looking forward to reading and learning more here.

I am thinking of buying the Sony PRS70) and I am researching which stores sell the books to Canada.

Thanks for the great forums!
...Brent...

Hi Brent and welcome to MobileRead. I've had a Sony 505 for over a year and like it a lot.

Hello Brent and welcome to MobileRead.

I have a Sony PRS-700 and a PRS-505.

I buy *most* of my eBooks from the Sony eBook Store, Fictionwise and Baen. You can find the links in the MobileRead Wiki at E-book_stores. They all deal with Canadian credit cards in US currency. There will be others that Canadians can buy from and I'll try to find a list. A Canadian on the forum recently asked the same question so I'll try and find that thread and get back to you.

I also borrow eBooks from the British Columbia Libraries-Your Library Without Walls site. I use my local library card to gain access. You'll need a card from the Vancouver Island Regional Library to borrow eBooks. You may have to put a book on reserve until it becomes available. You get to borrow them for 3 weeks before they expire since they are released using Adobe Digital Editions.

It's always nice to see another BC'er at MR.

*edit*

Here are a couple of threads I found on buying eBooks in Canada:

Canadian ebook stores?
Can Canadians easily purchase ebooks?

Books available for the PRS-505 are in the same format used by the PRS-700.

WDE.

Victoria is gorgeous! Welcome to the board-- I love my 505. It was the best investment I never made (gift from my husband). Like wetdogeared, I get many books from the local library, and the rest from places like sony ebookstore and feedbooks etc. Enjoy the process!

Sony Stores in Victoria, BC

Brent....I got my Sony reader at the Bay Center. There is also a Sony store in the Mayfair Mall. Both had the 505 and 700 models when I visited them and all colours were available.

I tried to quote your letter, but somehow it didn't quite work.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and information.
I *Knew* this was going to be a worthwhile endeavor.

I already found a vague reference to a "Bigger" screen Sony, so now that debate is on. Do I wait or???

Thanks again and it is GREAT to see BC represented here!
