PDF metadata changes stopped sticking after upgrade to version 0.5.10

I have been using the previous versions of Calibre to modify the metadata of pdf files I downloaded with no problems (it always worked). Since upgrading to 0.5.10, modifying pdf metadata never sticks (i.e. I can make the changes to the book Calibre, but the pdf in the Calibre directory and the one I save to another directory do not contain the changes and have the same metadata as the original). This is true even for pdf files that I had previously modified the metadata using previous versions of Calibre. Is there a setting somewhere or a file in the program that needs to be replaced or modified?

When I go to Configuration-Plugins-Metadata writer plugins, I only see EPUB, RTF, MOBI, and LRF. How do I add the pdf plugin back into there? Also, I am now running Jaunty with Calibre version 0.4.143 from the Ubuntu repository.

OK, I went ahead and installed 0.5.10 again using the binary and looked in preferences-plugins and it shows all plugins (including pdf writer plugin) as enabled. But it still doesn't put the changes I make to the metadata in the file properties (title/author), even though it changes them in the Calibre list.

After you make the changes you have to Send to Device or Save to Disk if you want an updated copy to read on your computer.

That worked up until a week or two ago. Now when I save to disk, the saved pdf metadata (title/author) doesn't change. The accompanying opf file shows the updated metadata, and the file names reflect the modified metadata. But the pdf document properties (title/author) still hold to the ones I gave them a few weeks ago using Calibre.

I am having the same problem Kovid, these pdf had their meta perfectly converted under the prior version, but under 0.5.10 it no longer writes the meta information correctly. Double checked the pluggin was also enabled in the plugin options.

No, actually size wise they are pretty small. These used to transfer perfectly under 0.5.9. But now on 0.5.10 i get the microsoft// etc stuff i used to get before pdf metainfo was implemented.

I wonder, do you have an old 0.5.9 tucked away somewhere as i might want to revert back to it for now (deleted mine once i upgraded to 0.5.10 ;()

same problem here. Calibre saves the metadata, but not on the actual file.
