Waiting on my Kindle

After much indecision (between the Kindle 2 and the Sony 505), I finally made a decision and ordered the K2 today. During my research period, this site was mentioned repeatedly. So, here I am. I look forward to spending time here as I learn how to use my new toy.

Hello ALLEED, and welcome to MobileRead. This is a nice place to hang out and filled with people who know a lot about books, electronic books, and book readers. While you wait for your Kindle to arrive, go ahead and download the K2 User's Guide so you can familiarize yourself with how the device works. Then, you want to plan which book will be the first one you read on it. (You never forget your first!)

Take a look at all the classic, copyright-free, and creative-commons books available right here at MobileRead. Download our Mobipocket Download Guide.

And, if you're a do-it-yourselfer, download a copy of Calibre and familiarize yourself with it. It's a great tool for converting eBooks in .html, .lit, or .epub to Mobipocket so they can be read on your Kindle. And, it has an RSS feed reader so it can create "newspapers" or "blogs" for your Kindle without you having to buy them from Amazon.
