Hello to everyone.

My name is Steve Epstein.
I am an entrepreneur in Phoenix, Arizona.
My other digital sw/ content startups have been in SMS gateways, ringtone distribution, and mobile video streaming.

48, grew up in Boston.
Teaching my two sons, 9 and 12 to read fiction classics on their iTouches....

My current firm develops websites and mobile content for US and Asian firms in Asian languages primarily. Increasingly, we are helping US firms create their first Chinese language websites.

We use keyword and generic International Domain names, web addresses not in English/ASCII, to attract traffic and to improve search engine rankings etc.

I just found mobileread.com & this forum today.

I am bootstrapping a mobile e-book startup for automated cross-language translations and chapter serialization/subscriptions for e-book authors.

My belief is that authors worldwide, with let's say 100 to 1000 e-book sales, should have the chance to be auto translated to languages of their choice, get exposure on sites for their genre but not original language, and receive 85% to 90% of the top line revenue for these sales, and 100% commissions on affiliate sales on their personal websites or blogs. (t-shirts etc....)

Elevator pitch (pre-beta...grin...) A multi-language Mobile e-books platform for authors of new e-book only content and global readers.
Middle of the Long Tail ...and happy to be there....

IMHO, Amazon / iTunes can concentrate on the hits etc....
There is an enormous market, way down off of the top sellers...

I think that the average author is not an average author at all.
They just need technology platforms to serve them, and to distribute their
creative works flawlessly, profitably, and transparently worldwide in their native language....(and in other languages)

Anyway, I am just getting started writing the requirements/ and specifications for a few developers to scope.

As a start-up for 'e-book only' book authors, I am not interested in the Kindle market per se.
I want to sell serialized chapters of e-books to any phone in the world in any language.
And I want to sell these e-books with a 90/10 split to the author....

So I hope that I can learn and contribute here at the forum...

If the e-book world can not emulate the publisher's advance model of hard cover books, then e-book publishers/distributors need to flip the economic business model upside down.

best regards,

Steve Epstein
