Talking It's Official....I'm Addicted!

Well, my new RED 505 arrived in the mail today. I had to take my parcel notice to the post office and pick it up. How bad is this? I had to open the box in the car before I got home!!!!

Anyway, I was very impressed with my purchase. It was an Ebay purchase and it was also 2nd hand. Wow, if I didn't know better I would have thought it was new! The original receipt was even included in the box so I should be able to purchase an extended warranty if I want to. Also included were 2 clip on book lights and an AC charger! Not a mark or scratch on it and it came in a beautiful burgundy cover!

I'm slowly figuring out how to transfer books, collections and audio onto the Reader and did get through the authorizing procedure. I think because I registered it before Mar 31st I'm entitled to 100 free classics, there was a little window that popped up with that message.

I thought maybe I would have some adjustment period using a digital reader but tonight I caught myself reaching for the upper right hand corner to flip the page!

Glad you're loving the Reader. Don't forget, you have to download the 100 Classics by April 30 -- the credit expires on that date. You might want to look at the books the generous people on this forum have uploaded to the Ebooks section -- you can find a lot of classics there, and they're DRM-free.

Congrats on your new reader!

Like doreenjoy says--make sure to check out the Ebooks section at MobileReads. I've found the books here are much better formatted than the classics availabe from Sony.

Thanks good to know...I realized this promo ends tomorrow and I hadn't really explored their selection yet, and there were a few classics I had seen that looked interesting. Now I won't have to worry if I don't get them by tomorrow.

Congratulations on your new Kindle! Good to know you are enjoying it and yes like me in the first time until now, you will get addicted to it and never want to place it down. Just funny that you want to flip the pages on the upper right hand corner....haha.... but you will get the hand of it and just press the button.

Oh, you had to register your account by March 31, but you have until April 30 to download the 100 classics. AFter 4/30, the credit will expire.

yaaaay!! Another one goes to the dark side! (the dark red side, that is). I fight for the side of light and silver, but all are welcome

Congrats! enjoy your new purchase (I occasionally still grab empty air on the right hand side to turn a page, and I've had mine since early November of this past year)

I don't think the 100 free classics credit expires. I bought my Sony reader nearly a year ago and in my account it says I have 76 remaining and expiry date says Never Expires.

There's some discrepancy over this. Some people have gotten notices that say they are expiring. I haven't and my credits say "never expires."

Boo my Reader arrives tomorrow from John Lewis... does that mean I've missed the 100 free classics? Not that I'd read them but it'd be nice to have the option lol

Question Care of My New Reader

I did have a few questions, which I have slowly finding the answers to. There is one question I wanted to ask, especially to those of you that have had your reader for a while....What do you clean the screen on the Reader with? I have been especially careful to NOT touch the screen with my fingers but I know that I will end up doing that eventually. Can you clean it like your flat panel or do you need some sort of special cleaner?

You can touch the screen, don't worry I use the little microfiber cloth (no liquid) that came with my ipod touch and softly rub the marks off. Works great.

I was a nervous wreck the first few weeks about touching the screen.. lol.
I've calmed down a little bit.. have actually taken my 505 out of the house a few times now.

I've been using the little cloth that comes with a new pair of eyeglasses.
I only use it for my reader. and it works nicely.
