Receiving emails via amazon.com overseas
Kindle/amazon allow you to send docs etc via email to your Kindle. Amazon charges 10 cents for the conversion. If there is no whispernet overseas how would my Kindle get these emails? Is there a way to sync up using a PC?

Send the emails to @free.kindle.com. The attachments will be converted and forwarded to the email address connected with your Amazon account.

IF you send it to @free.kindle.com it is emailed to you rather than sent via whispernet.

Of course - just copy files via USB. As far as conversion goes, you have the option of having the converted file sent to the Kindle or having it mailed back to you. If you have no Whispernet, you use the latter.

BTW, the 10 cent charge is not for conversion, it's for sending the converted document to your Kindle via Whispernet. So far no one has been charged. Check out the Kindle Myths and Partial Truths wiki link in my sig for more information.

That's the policy but no one has been charged. It's been discussed on the Amazon forums and in the Myths thread here and so far, no one has been charged.

People have been claimed to have been charged $3 but I've never seen proof of a bill.
