Hey from San Diego

Hi all,

My name is Jeska and I've been lurking here for a few weeks. Thought it was time to say hi.

So... hi!

I bought a K2 without really knowing how many other ereaders were available out there. When I stumbled onto this site, I had a few minutes of dread, seeing all of the different choices I could have made. And then I realized that I could go down that road, and never be happy with any of the devices, so I've decided to stick with the K2.

For now

Anyhow, I'm glad to make you acquaintance (acquaintances? That doesn't sound right) and hope to be able to contribute to these discussions from time to time!

Thanks for the welcomes

San Diego is nice, and so are her citizens (for the most part). I've lived here for about 5 years and love it. Can't imagine living away from the ocean ever again. (Although I'm deathly afraid of going in the water, lol)

My personal opinion is they're all great and you won't regret the purchase. They all have +/- and only you can determine the +/-.

But your also a part of history as the K2 is the only eBook that can read to you. Just grab a blanki and tell mama K2 to read to you.

I've always considered San Diego to be a small city.... I'm kind of afraid to ask what you consider a small city/town?

Well I don't know about slayda, but the town that I originally am from had only a handful of stoplights, no department stores, and two bars. So SD is pretty big to me

I'm just a country boy, at heart. Fortunately I've grown with Huntsville, AL, (population ~ 160K - up from 25K at the end of WWII when Von Braun came here) so I can stand it but in general it's too big as well. However I don't miss the "everyone knows everything about you" of small towns either.

However, Spotted Horse, WY is a little smaller than I prefer, although I did travel through there in 1964 on a Harley "Hog". I didn't blink so I saw the whole town.

I dont know I am kind of envious of the small town thing coming fom a city where we are about 14 million people (NYC metro area). Oddly you can get very isolated in such a big population, due in part to the innate agressiveness of the "new yorker" (yup, its not a myth!)

That's kind of what I figured. I started overwhelming myself reading about them all. Then I realized that I had to take a deep breath and enjoy what I have

I had actually been saving up for the Kindle for about a year. Asking for B-day and other gifts to be in the form of Amazon gift certs. So I really had my heart set on it. I just started having doubts when the whole DMCA thing happened.

The first one that I finished was Scarpetta but I was bouncing around a bunch of other ones at the same time. I kind of took the idea of having my whole library at my fingertips a bit literally and downloaded a ton 'o books.

I love the ocean, it's the things that can kill me that live in the ocean I can do without.

Of course, I moved to a part of the world where there are simply scads of things that live on the land that are even more likely to kill you.

Didn't give that a whole lot of advance thought.

I am familiar with that type of isolation. Unfortunately, I seem to have just enough psi ability to pickup the noisy static form other minds but not the info/data. With too many people around, it can about drive me crazy. (Even when it's in walking distance!)
