Bookmarks: Can't save them anymore in 505!

I'm not new to the 505, and even offered advice before on how to make sure your bookmarks stay saved:

But my problem is, I just upgraded to the "new" firmware released for the 505 a few months back (yeah, I'm late). But now, my reader can no longer retain any bookmarks made if I shut the device off and power it back on: all gone.

I can make the bookmarks, but if I turn the thing off, they'll be lost when I turn it back on. This is so annoying! Someone please help.

There is a setting in the 505 to reformat the memory. This should resolve this issue.

Thanks for replying, Pilotbob. But if I reformat the internal memory, won't that wipe out everything on the reader?

Yes, but you have everything on your PC, right. You can just re-sync/copy the stuff back.

The issue is almost certainly a corrupt file system. Doing a "chkdsk" and allowing it to repair any file system problems that it encounters should fix it, and is a little less drastic than the "reformat" option that Bob suggests.
