Foxit's eSlick open to preorders again!

Hi,

I just noticed that Foxit has opened the preorder cart for the ESlick reader.

The terms seem to be the same: Introductory price: $259.99; Deposit: $50
Shipping late April.

Does this mean that the initial set of ESlick's are shipped?
If anyone has received their eSlick, please do post reviews.

Thanks
hari

A good price but other than that nothing about it makes me want it

This is basically a Cybook without Mobi support and with less memory right? Maybe better PDF support? I guess if I was buying I'd probably spend the extra $40 and get a Cybook from BoB, or does this have something desirable I'm not seeing.

Darn, just in time. This is the e-reader I was most interested in, but I had to make a quick purchase before the funds I was getting from work evaporated, and these were unavailable so I went with the Sony. Since I almost exclusively read .PDFs, I thought this would be perfect (assuming the PDF support is as good as we hope...)

I saw the device today, and the PDF has reflow capabilities.

I don't know the cybook, so I can't compare it with that, but I do know it's light and I did like the touch of the device (not a plasitc casing, but more a rubbery casing)

It also uses a faster CPU, a 400MHz (according to the wiki the CyBook uses a 200MHz)

Hi Sweetpea,
Is it possible for you to persuade the owner(yourself or someone else) to post a review?
Havent been able to find a handson review yet.

Any idea about the ROM/RAM on the device?
The Cybook has 16MB of RAM. The current trend has been towards 64+MB(32MB at the min). Foxit has not mentioned this in their website.
I doubt if internal memory is same as RAM.

Current CyBooks seem to be shipping with 400MHz CPUs. I suspect that Netronix (the hardware manufacturer) have stopped making the 200MHz devices.

I saw it in the CeBIT, not sure if it's out yet.

You should update the wiki then!

I've no idea how much it resembles the CyBook, at least, in the hardware department. I didn't ask about that at the Netronix stand. I did find the e-slick more comfortable to hold, as the casing was different from the one I saw at Netronix. (the reason I didn't ask was because I was more interested in the Mentors there).

I think this is a great device, especially with PDFs. I'll post a new review in another thread.

It does indeed, but the current firmware on CyBooks displays the CPU speed in the "About" box, and current CyBooks are showing "400MHz". They probably also have 32MB RAM rather than 16MB.
