Are there any precautions one needs to take when taking a Sony PRS-505 through an airports X ray system?

The low-intensity X-rays used at airports will do it no harm at all. Don't worry about it.

It does not hurt your notebook and credit card, so no harm will come to your reader.

No harm so far! I think there's more risk (to the screen) when some border agent handles it.
