External viewer for pdf not starting anymore
Hi!
Calibre is just a great piece of software. ![]() Since I updated it from 0.4.125 to 0.4.141 I've got a little problem. When I strike the shortcut "v" (or choose show pdf in the menu) I used to see the external program starting and viewing the pdf. Nowadays nothing happens. Viewing pdf with the internal viewer is no problem, also viewing pdfs by doubleclicking outside of calibre. Reinstalling calibre as well as okular (the viewer on my linux-system) didn't help. Any ideas? Where can I get more information? There's nothing in the log... |

I'm guessing you are using the binary installer? On a 64bit machine?

unzip the attached zip file into the claibre installation directory /opt/calibre by default and see if it helps.

the calibre binary includes its own Qt libraries, which are probably causing the problem. Try setting your PDF viewer to one that does not use Qt and see if it works

I tried xpdf-reader, epdfview and gv although I'm not sure, if they really don't use Qt.
There's no difference, the error message still appears. |

Another thing to try is to simply delete all the Qt libraries from the /opt/calibre folder. That way it will use your system libraries and everything should be fine
