Newbie
Well, I'm a newbie to this forum but not precisely a noob to e-readers. I have had my Kindle for over six months and I love it. I haven't experienced the problems many of the complainers have. I'm going to buy the Kindle 2 soon (can't believe I'm going to spend that much money again but from what I've read, the upgrade seems worth it to me).
I do have a question or two, and I'll pose those in the appropriate forum. I've searched for answers but this forum is so huge, searches just seem daunting. I will say, however, from all I've read so far, this seems a very friendly and helpful community. I'm glad y'all are here! |

Welcome Numinous. I see you sport the badge of Clan Maclean. I hail from the line of Clan Young.
I've also got a Kindle -- as do my sister and niece. We have all three Kindles registered to the same account, which makes it so very nice to share the books. (We're fortunate that we do like to read some of the same books, particularly fantasy and SF.) What are you going to do with your K1? Keep it or sell it? (You did mention "upgrade".) Will you soon be sharing your eBook library with someone? We're glad you've joined us at MobileRead and I'm sure you'll find someone with answers to your questions. By the way, have you looked for your answers in the Wiki? It can be complicated to find info in the forums, even with the search facility, but important stuff tends to be put into the Wiki. |

Hi, Numinous! I love my reader, too! (Sony, but hey...) I remember how overwhelming this forum was when I first came here - and I still have trouble getting my "search" right, even when I'm looking for posts I've read and know are there...somewhere.
![]() You may have figured this out already, but it took me awhile and helped me keep up with all the news... When I log in each day (yes, I come every day ![]() Another thing I learned to do, if I found a thread that looked like something I'd want to come back to, I subscribe to it. You get an email just after midnight everyday of any new posts and your User CP (hmmm....don't know what CP stands for) lists all your subscribed threads. That helped me for a long time, since I seem to have a lousy track record coming up with good key word terms to find those threads again using "search"! |

Thank you all for the kind welcome.
DG: I'm sure I'll enjoy the K2 ![]() Elsi: I also enjoy SF and SFF and have downloaded and read practically all of Terry Pratchett. But I do read other things as well. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the K1. I'd consider sharing some of my library with one of the kids but I wouldn't want to share the account with either of them. I'd love to give it to my wife but she has zero interest in and ebook reader and she gets through four or five DT books a week. I'm not a terribly 'green' person but this bothers me some, lol. Maybe I'll just keep the old one in the car and the K2 in the house and whispersync them. I'm just starting to figure out the Wiki here and I think it's great. Thanks! FizzyWater: Thanks for the tip. I've also figured out that I can find my posts on the CP. Again, thanks, y'all for the kind welcome. |
