Wonky GUI display and Uninstall / Reinstall on OSX
Hi there!
Love calibre, thanks to Kovidogyal for producing it; and encourage loyal users to make a donation to help in in continued development. Today, after firing up the latest version of Calibre for downloading, I went into the preferences. Not sure what I changed but the format and display of the GUI has gone wonky. There is some semetic script in the dialog boxes, it shows a "tag" column that I can't remove with preferences, and an uninstall (remove from apps) and reinstall has no effect. Question - How can I complete remove all Calibre settings and then install it again? Thanks! |

DO you have apptrap buy any chance?
Put the following in the trash.. ~/Library/Preferences/calibre ~/Library/Preferences/net.kovidgoyal.plist Then run it again... I'm pretty sure the above is all the config. Start it again and it "should" be like you never had it. It should prompt for your library location. Just point to your current library. No need to delete that at all. That said, I have funky issues with the columns too. Try to size/rearrange the columns where the tag column is missing. I don't know what you mean by it shows/has a "semetic" script??? BOb |

Bob,
Perfect - thanks for the educational tip, I'll bet the same works for other applications. ps - semitic (sp - should be semitic) script, i.e. arabic. A. |

Hi
had exactly the same problem. Solved it by changing the language in preferences to English from Arabic - do not know how it got set on Arabic. Restarted Calibre and it was problem solved. Ian |

I'm having similar problems but my language preference is not set to Arabic. I have in rough order, British English, English, Canadian English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese.

Okay, removing the appropriate preference files solved the problem.
