Question about SPDF/Textbooks on the reader

I have searched on this forum and the internet trying to find an answer to this.

I bought an eChapter from iChapters.com. That means I purchased a single chapter from my textbook. It came in a spdf extension or a sealed adobe document format. I would love to be able to put this on my reader. I can't find anything that could convert it for me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to convert from spdf to a format compatible with the Sony reader?

Alternatively, does anyone know of a place to buy textbooks that are compatible with the reader?

Thanks in advance. I am fairly computer literate, but the formats for ebook readers is a new world for me.

Is it a protected file? Can you print it? If yes, then get a pdf printer driver, print your chapter into a pdf file, good for reader.
In the worst case, you can use "print screen" in windows (if you use windows), create images of each page, then combine them into a pdf.

It is a protected file. I did try to print to a pdf, but it tells me that I don't have sufficient privileges to do that. It is short enough, the print screen option may work. Thanks.

Wow, they are sneaky. When I try to print screen, I get nothing. I can see the menu bar, and anything else on the screen, but the actual document doesn't show. It is a file of a textbook I bought. I don't feel bad about trying to break their encryption for it, because I already bought the print version of the textbook at the beginning of the semester. I then found a place where I can purchase one chapter at a time in electronic version, and so I thought I would try to get it on my reader. It would be much more convenient than lugging around this big ol' calculus book. Thanks anyway for the suggestions.

Taking a picture of the screen with a digital camera? It's not different from "print screen"

Thanks, I tried Snag it. Pretty cool program, and it works just like you said. I think I am just going to accept that there is no easy way to transfer the textbook on to my reader. It is a bummer, but I still love my reader. Thanks for all the help.

If you cannot snagit, try this:

Download SplViewer (www.lvbprint.de/html/splviewer.html) and install cutepdf or pdf995 in your pc. Disconnect your printer cable, open the .spdf file and print it in the printer you just disconnected. An error message is displayed because your printer is not connected, however the ".spl" file can be found at c:\windows\system32\spool\printers. Open the .spl with the SplViewer and print it using pdf995 or cutepdf or whatever pdf virtual printer you want. Done !!
