Hi, not sure where to post this request on the forum, so I am placing it here.

Hi, I would like to set up a site or store to sell an ebook for
download. I need a hosting account, shopping cart, merchant account,
etc. The cost of building a site on my own to do this can easily
require an investment in the thousands and I do not want to do this
for an untested item. Can anyone recommend a way to set up a site and
process orders without a large investment?

almost all paid hosts support it. all you need is a host that support PHP and mysql, which is the system almost all shoping cart softwares run on.

some have better support than others, you get what you pay for. but if your websavy enough

Seems to me that there are a couple of turn key providers. Yahoo shops would probably be the cheapest as I remember, for a more professional product see IBM. Not sure about the Cafe folks, they might handle that sort of thing.

There are some established ebooks stores you could try. I think booksforabuck.com is one.

You could possible take the approach Richard Herley took... he just has the downloads free and clear and then a Pay Pal pay button for those that liked the book and want to pay.

Also, there are many fullfillment type stuff that already exists for Software... so you may want to alter your search to look for those. Distributing a digital file is the same whether it is a program or an ebook.
