Converting a trade paperback

Hi 8) There's a free e-book available at http://www.randomstatic.net/newtonssleep.php in pdf format, but it's essentially a direct copy of the trade paperback print edition, and it appears that the current pdf doesn't work too well on at least some reader devices - I'm guessing at least in part because the pages are too big. Is there a standard size for e-book pages?

I understand the original only exists in TeX format (more precisely XeTex, for the OpenType support); what other e-book formats is it possible to convert to from PDF or TeX? And which are worth doing, to minimise the number of formats while maximising compatibility with the widest range of readers?

Thanks!

RTF or HTML are the usual Store formats for ebooks cause they can be opened on any system.

that book doesnt look too hard to convert, its not an Image PDF, the text is embedded but you will have to remove the headers and the footers.

It would proably take a half hour to an hour to make that into a clean RTF or HTM file after you remove the headers and the footers and the page numbers, and stitch together the lines from pages. ive done it before.

Well since you usually use a macro package that use semantical markup when using TeX (such as LaTeX) it should be easy to convert to whatever e-book format that is wanted.

Ok, there's now an html version at http://www.randomstatic.net/newtonssleep.php - it's pretty basic, but should be readable by anything. Is there anything further that should be done to the file to make it more e-book friendly?
